13 steps to a positive mental attitude – Motivational Speaker

  • Take charge first thing in the morning. Will you say…“Good morning, Lord” or “Good lord, another morning?”
  • Be aware of your attitude “talk and walk”– the way you walk, talk and act are all carried out either in a negative, positive or indifferent way. Attitude is a form of communication-what are you saying?
  • Take control of your mind – we become what we think about. Control your thoughts and you will control your life. Make a committed decision everyday to be happy, grateful, and joyful… and don’t let anyone or anything change your mind.
  • Discard self-imposed inhibitors – procrastination, whining, constant excuses.
  • Focus on what you want – when you concentrate on what you don’t want… guess what that’s what you get! E.g. “I don’t want to be late”… instead “I will be on time.” Or “I don’t want to lose this deal/customer”… instead “I will obtain this deal/customer.”

  • Cultivate Acceptance – let go of pre-conceived ideas, assumptions you may have of certain situations or people. Don’t pay attention or spread rumours, gossip. Recognise others differences and accept these. Attitudes are based on assumptions. In order to change attitudes one must first change one’s assumptions.
  • Are you your personal cheerleader or your own worst critic?
    Let go of negative self-talk-it brings down your energy.If you have undergone a divorce, don’t say:
    “My life will never be the same again-I’m doomed” instead say“My life will be different and I will work in making it better”
  • Have an Attitude of Gratitude-every day give thanks for what you have and what you have asked to receive as if it has already materialised

  • Select a PMA role model. Someone that exudes a positive attitude and self – esteem, ask them for pointers, and copy them.
  • Ask for feedback-ask this person for constant feedback regarding your attitude.
  • Act as if you already have a Positive Mental Attitude everyday. Remember actions trigger feelings just as feelings trigger actions. Radiate the attitude of confidence, of well being, of a person who knows where he is going. You will then find good things happening to you right away.
  • Visualise yourself with a PMA – make a mental picture everyday of your positive attitude actions and situations you will attract and send out.
  • Read these points everyday for the next thirty days and see how your life changes.
