Quick Way to Stand Out In Business!

April 5, 2017 in Image Tips

In this fast paced business world when we are competing to be noticed here is a quick way to make your personal brand stand out from the crowd…

Write a PAN (Personal Acknowledgement Note) to a client, colleague or manager. I learned this method from Joe Stumpf, CEO of By Referral Only, the world’s largest training company for estate agents.

3 Rules for Writing a PAN

Focus on one specific attribute you want more of, like being punctual, presenting, asking questions, being assertive or willing to go the extra mile.
When you notice this trait in someone hand write (not email) a note as soon as you notice the behaviour and post it or put it on their desk. Acknowledge, not compliment. When acknowledging, you take out the word ‘I’ or ‘me’.

Example:

Dear Liz,
At exactly 07h45 a.m. the door to our office opened and there you were – just like you said you would be. Being on time is a wonderful way to say you respect others and demonstrates your work ethic and commitment.

Thank you,
Haydee
Make sure you write these PAN’s on paper that embodies your brand “persona” and not just a “sticky note”

I’ve tried PAN’s for a while and they really work in elevating your personal brand whilst making you memorable. Another great side effect of a PAN is that whatever you acknowledge in others you start to get more of for yourself.

I encourage you to write 3 PAN’s (Personal Acknowledgement Note’s) by the end of today.

The 3 rule technique has been proven over and over again to be the most effective way to write a personal note card. Practice it – you’ll benefit hugely from it.

Stay Awesome!
